A Modified Toaster Sweater
I still wanted to try another version of a sweater/hoodie with the upcycled comforter. For this version I used Grainline Studio’s Toaster Sweater. The comforter has zero stretch so I cut the pieces larger than the pattern to allow for human growth and lack of fabric stretch.
I knew that there was no way I was going to get the neckband for the pattern to actually work on this piece. You know I live a good hoodie so I pulled out hte hoodie pattern piece from another make and attached that. I really like the look of a hood on the Toaster Sweater. This might appear more often on this make.
I also suspected the bottom band might have a few issues. I ended up turning it to the orange side instead of trying to match elephants on the band/sweater. I also think it tied in the orange on the hood. The band is a tiny bit snug, but then I find that often the case with the pattern itself. The band is simply sewn on and I will probably wear it at least once to see if I am going to keep the band or simply serge the sweater ends.
I serged the sleeve ends. Again no band was going to fit on the sleeve due to zero stretch. I still have a little left from the second comforter so I will have to carefully plan my next make with the remains.
