Flagstaff Wool & Fiber Festival ‘25

My DH and I traveled to Flagstaff, Arizona to attend a wool festival. This might be my 4th appearance/visit to this Festival. Of course I found some new friends who returned home with me (really you even needed to ask).

Our fist stop was at the Ness Boutique stand. I bought a shawl pin from her a few years ago. This time I purchased two bracelets. All of her items are made from old knitting needles. She takes custom orders, so if like me you inherited a family members needle stash here is a great idea on how to upcycle them. What knitters doesn’t need knitting jewelry.

We then found a delightful stand from New Mexico called Little Ch’aska Farm. They had soaps and salves and tallow all locally sourced. It was hard to select just the two we purchased.

I had to visit one of my favorite dyers, Superglo Fibers. I wore my Birthday Cake Pop Sweater and she recognized her yarn right away. I bought some more to make another or I might use it to knit myself a Tanis Fiber Arts Pop Rock Pullover. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I also revisited another favored dyer, Knudsen Knits. Her booth did not disappoint and I found a sock set that was just perfect. The photo is being silly and refusing to orient as it should.

We also revisited Hats and Things by Shelly. She is local to Flagstaff and has the most adorable items for sale. We purchased a dinosaur hat for our daughter a few years ago which she loves and wears. This time we actually purchased cork coasters made by her husband. 2 of these will stay with me and the quilt ones will be gifted to my older sister who is a quilter.

The last purchase was from a small Native American seller, Sheep is Life. I bought 2 skeins of Navajo Churro Wool. The flock has been in the family for many generations. I saw two beautiful objects made from the wool and fell in love. The yarn will felt beautifully based on the samples. My DH also bought me a beautiful stainless steel bracelet the granddaughter had hand stamped.

We had a wonderful time at the festival. We also saw some sheep shearing, camels and alpacas. Always lovely to be around creative yarn people.
