More than a festival in Flagstaff
We did not just go to Flagstaff for the Festival we also did many other fun activities. After a few hours at the Festival we drove down the road about a mile to the Museum of Northern Arizona. This is a stunning location for a museum and the building itself was a treasure. It collects and displays Indigenous material and natural history items from the Colorado Plateau.
Sunday morning we got up and drove to the Walnut Canyon National Monument. We visited this years ago when our DD was much younger. On this visit we descended 185 feet into the canyon. We went up and down a total of 756 steps. This site was populated by Indigenous people who used the natural caves as homes and storage sites for thousands of years. The scenery was stunning.
In the afternoon my DH took another short hike while I participated in a 3 section zipline course at Flagstaff Extreme Adventure. This is my 3rd or 4th visit to this place. The course is challenging but doable. It took me 2 hours to complete.
Monday morning found us completing a 2 mile hike at Buffalo Park. It was an overcast cooler day - perfect for a morning hike. The park is stunning. We even saw three mule deer during the hike.
We had the best weekend getaway and confirmed our love of Flagstaff.
