New York City Vacation (Vacaciones en la ciudad de Nueva York)
After my father’s service we took the train from Upstate New York to the Big Apple, New York City. I have not visited NYC in years. Our DD really wanted to go to see the sights.
Después del servicio de mi padre, tomamos el tren desde el norte del estado de Nueva York hasta la Gran Manzana, Nueva York. Hacía años que no visitaba Nueva York. Nuestra hija tenía muchas ganas de ir a ver los lugares de interés.
You forget just how relaxing train travel is compared to flying. The scenery was stunning. I had planned knitting time but spent most of the journey just staring out the window. We finally did arrive in NYC.
Olvidas lo relajante que es viajar en tren comparado con volar. El paisaje era impresionante. Había planeado tejer, pero pasé la mayor parte del viaje mirando por la ventana. Por fin llegamos a Nueva York.
After dropping our luggage at our hotel we headed out to visit the Met. We walked all over the museum seeing all the wonders. Of course we had to find the cats in the Egyptian wing.
Después de dejar el equipaje en el hotel, salimos a visitar el Met. Recorrimos todo el museo admirando todas sus maravillas. Por supuesto, tuvimos que encontrar a los gatos en el ala egipcia.
We stayed until closing time. We meet an old family friend who lives in the city for dinner. We extended our dinner because just as our entrees arrived the skies opened with a huge thunderstorm. Luckily by the time we were finished eating and talking it had calmed to a slight drizzle. We rode the subway back to our hotel and thus ended our first day in the City.
Nos quedamos hasta la hora de cierre. Quedamos para cenar con un viejo amigo de la familia que vive en la ciudad. Extendimos la cena porque justo cuando llegaron los platos principales, el cielo se desató con una gran tormenta. Por suerte, para cuando terminamos de comer y charlar, ya había amainado y solo caía una ligera llovizna. Tomamos el metro de vuelta al hotel y así terminamos nuestro primer día en la ciudad.
