Stitching on A Shirt

I continue to stitch on the tshirt for my new teacher shirt. If you ever taught elementary school you know all about the blue and red lines for spacing. Those guide lines are complete.

Over the course of this week I hope to get the words stitched. I did the lines with 6 strands of floss. I was going to do them as a whipped backstitch but after a few stitches of that I did not like it. Tore out the few stitches completed and just went with a regular back stitch. I might try the letters in a whipped backstitch with only 3 threads.

If you have never taught someone how to write within lines you might not be familiar with the blue and red lines. They are guide lines to help young children correctly space the location and size of their letters when writing. As a kindergarten teacher I spend a lot of time on handwriting instruction. Honestly the majority of it is trying to break bad handwriting habits. These include holding the writing utensil correctly and beginning your letters at the top, not at the bottom.
