The last of the Upcycle Sewing

I still had some of the comforter left so decided to make a pair of Winnie shorts to go with the hoodies I have sewed. I have seen the trend of using blankets to sew up a hoodie and shorts set. At least it comes across my feeds sometimes. Personally, I think if it is cold enough to wear a hoodie why would you wear shorts, but whatever floats your boat.

Mostly I just wanted to try it out. A sewing experiment. I did cut the shorts a little bigger than the pattern. I was worried about the lack of stretch in the material. Maybe I should have been more worried about matching the patterns on the shorts. If I had been really thinking I probably should have used the “backside” of the comforter so no pattern to match with the orange.

The shorts fit, but will probably not see the outside of my house. They will be perfect for wearing around the house. Believe it or not I still have some of the comforter left. The remainder will probably be used in bag construction. Using these thrifted pieces has been fun and I enjoyed the sewing process. I am very glad I have a serger. The two layers of fabric and the inside batting are sometimes a little much for just a regular seam.
