Beginning of a New Month

Maybe I am beginning to hit a good book stride 2 months into the year because I have 2 finishes this week. Where the Wind Leaves: A Refugee Family's Miraculous Story of Loss, Rescue, and Redemption by Vinh Chung and Peach Blossom Spring by Melissa Fu. I believe the Melissa Fu book was better written but both were enjoyable and I learned new things from both reads. Of course, Goodreads is not so forgiving, they are claiming I am already 7 books behind schedule for my yearly reading goal - blah, blah.

Hardcover Book

The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O'Farrell. I have read 2 other books by this author (Hamnet - loved it and I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death - not a favorite). This is a very well written book. If you have read her other historical fiction and enjoyed it - this one is also a winner.

Car Audio

This Dark Road to Mercy by Wiley Cash. Think moody Southern literature and you have got it in this book. Lots of foreshadowing and written quite well about those society seems to think are throw away people.
