Not very much knitting
I am getting ready to return to school for the new year. This means I don't have much time for knitting or other activities for a few weeks until I get back in the school routine. I was working on a new sock pattern.
These will most likely be frogging these and starting again. I actually prefer to work socks from the toe up (but always have problems making the cast off at the top look good). This pair starts at the cuff and goes down to the toe. I actually like the cuff pattern in the sock. The only issue is that it seems to make a tighter cuff on the sock. I can just barely get the sock on my leg. This would not be a problem except these are supposed to be a gift pair.
The person who I planned to gift with the socks has a much bigger foot than me. If I can barely get them on they will not be fitting the other person. I think these will be visiting the frogging pond very soon.
I bought the sock ruler next to the soon to be no more sock recently. This is supposed to help me measure socks for others correctly. My normal method has been to make a pair and if they don't fit the intended lucky person I just take them back because most likely they fit me! I can take them back because I only knit socks for people I really love, like family. Socks are a labor of love and you must be worthy to receive a pair of hand knit socks. If you are rude about receiving a pair of hand knit socks your name is struck off the to be knit for list.
Also this method has worked quite well to line my sock drawer but really not so well for other family members. Maybe the sock ruler will help.
