The Second Apron - Part 1

I made the second apron for the same client. I thought this time I might give you more details.

First I made the pockets and pocket trim. I ended up cutting these larger than the original apron. I serged the edges of each piece. Now that I have a wonderful serger I love to serge pieces before seaming them together. I think it gives a nicer finish to each item. After serging I ironed the seam allowances.

Once I had the finishing on the pockets I moved onto making the holder for the towel I attach to the pocket. Buttonholes are always a gamble! After you have gotten them completed there is still the nerve wracking business of cutting them open. Don't even bother to ask me how many times I have been too aggressive when cutting open buttonholes. Let's just say I sometimes feel I should buy fray check in the gallon size.

I will finish the apron in next week's post.
