Cougar Top

I used my favorite Love Notions pattern, the Sloan to make a top. The fabric is from Olga’s Closet and I only had 1 1/2 yards of french terry. After I completed the project look at the few scraps I had leftover.

Now of course in my never ending quest to avoid a neckline I added a hood. If I had not been a lazy sewist I would have used my cover stitch machine to complete the hems, but that would have involved changing and rethreading the machine at least twice. I also would have had to rethread the serger twice because I had to change out the threads there. A zigzag stitch was good enough for me.

Also can we take a moment of silence to reflect on the near perfect matching of seams on the underarms.

This is a sewist thing, but near perfection in matching seams is quite the accomplishment (at least in my sewing world). I managed it on the cuff hems too!

I achieved the feat by slowing down and tacking the seams together with a basting stitch before I serged. I can follow the sewing rules every once in a while.

I am very happy with this make and foresee it being a great wardrobe piece. It will look great with a pair of jeans on a weekend.
