FO Friday -Old Vine

This is probably not what I would have selected as a pattern name, but I am not a pattern designer. I purchased a kit to make this shawl in 2024 at the Flagstaff Wool & Fiber Festival. It had the pattern and the 2 100 grams skeins needed to complete the project.

I began the shawl in March of 2025, so it took me less than a year to complete. If you have followed along on the saga I had trouble with measurement. I reviewed the pattern and thought I do not need a shawl that is 68 inches in length ( that is taller than me). By July of 2025 one skein was knit and I actually bound off the shawl. This is where the wheels fell off of my master plan. Like any truly great knitter I thought well I can block this out. Um…even after blocking it was the size of a neck warmer, not the stunning lace shawl from the pattern picture.

It took a short trip to frog pond to undo the bind off. I was feeling a little discouraged so it sat in time out until I got over my mad. The second skein took way longer than 4 months to complete. Let’s just say I had to put on my big girl panties to get back to knitting it. I had hoped to finish it in 2025, but other new fun projects kept jumping ahead. I finally buckled down and finished it this month.

I blocked it and the magic of the lace completely enchanted me. I do not think there is anything wrong with wearing this morning, noon and night (asking for a friend). I love the color too! Will I make another one, 95% sure that would be a no, but…. It also looks just like the picture from the pattern - exactly why I purchased the kit in the first place.
