New York City Continued (Nueva York (continuación)

We continued the NYC fun on our 2nd and 3rd days in the city. We had pre-purchased tickets to visit the Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island. The tour included the ferry ride from Battery Park over to the Island.

My family arrived in the United States soon after the Mayflower in the 1600s. My DHs family arrived much later in the early-mid 1800s from Prussia. They have computer stations at Ellis Island where you can search for your family and find the ship manifest. We did find his relatives and it turns out they entered the United States before Ellis Island was completed. Therefore they actually did not get processed for immigration at Ellis Island.

We climbed up the pedestal at the Statute of Liberty. We spent almost the entire day between the two sights and highly recommend a visit if you find yourself in NYC. I have visited NYC many times over the years but this was my first visit to the Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island.

The next day we visited the American Musuem of Natural History. We headed right up to the dinosaur floor. We then worked our way down all the levels. This is another wonderful activity in NYC.

We finished the day by visiting a yarn shop (of course!) and an area close by to view the Brooklyn Bridge. We walked between 5-7 miles each day and thoroughly enjoyed out visit to the Big Apple.
