Saturday Cast On

My knitting group decided we needed to do a KAL, well at least 3 of us did. We are doing the Rock It Tee by Tanis Fiber. It has been in my plans for a long time. Well of course I did not have any suitable yarn (stop laughing, gentle reader).

A local to me dyer is Desert Panda Fibers. They have beautiful yarns for sale. I selected a fingering weight with a matching kid mohair silk lace in the colorway Bruised. Even though the dyer is local it is not sold in yarn shops near me so it was mailed it to me. Look at the adorable mailer it arrived inside.

The photos don’t do the yarn true justice, but here is the fingering weight skein.

Of course I had to buy a matching skein of lace weight to make the stripes.

I wound up the yarn and did a gauge swatch. It knits up beautifully, though winding up mohair weight yarn is a lesson in patience. I think the above picture is closest to the color in real life.

I have completed the first 8 rows of the yoke and who doesn’t love a new cast on project. It makes all your other projects seem dull.
