Um…No that did not work

Not everything I make turns into gold and sparkle fairy dust. I have been trying out a few new recipes to make “chips.” This result in a never again and maybe I will tweak the recipe a little bit and try again.

The utter failure was cinnamon sugar banana chips. These were to be done in the air fryer. I sliced the bananas dipped them in lemon juice to keep them from browning (which in hindsight I am not sure was that important because they were going to be covered in cinnamon sugar and baked so would be turning brown anyway) and dipped in a cinnamon sugar mixture.

The directions were to air fry them. I laid them down on my tray and even after double the time they were still a mushy mess. In addition, I now had to clean a very sticky tray. I tossed them out and soaked the tray in hot water. (It turned out I was so annoyed by the mess I scrubbed and washed that tray to within an inch of its life and it looks brand new). That recipe was deleted from my pinterest page immediately. These were so bad I did not take any photo proof.

The second try was at dehydrating salt and vinegar cucumber chips. This one turned out much better. I followed the recipe and the only issue was the saltiness. I felt like I was at a salt lick.

The next time I will try less salt and a little more vinegar. My DH liked them (and he is not a big fan of cucumbers in general). I will try this one again because they did crisp up very nicely in the dehydrator.
