What Else to do with Mandarian Oranges
I bought a lot of mandarian oranges (or at least there are a lot stuffed in those bags). Even after canning a dozen small jars of oranges I still had some leftover.
For Christmas I received silicone trays that fit my dehydrator. Decided a fruit clean out needed to occur to make my own fruit leather.
I peeled and chopped some of the mandarian oranges. I found blueberries in the fridge that needed to be used. I think I might have found a banana to add to the mix also. Now that I think of it there might also be mango in this batch. I did earlier state this was a fruit clean up batch. Put all the fruits into my food processor and whirled it away.
Once I had the liquid I poured it onto the silcone trays. Blueberries are a pushy fruit insisting on taking over the color of whatever you add them to.
After a few hours I had my own delicious fruit leather. It was not overly sweet like commercial fruit leathers. I knew exactly what was inside of the leather (or at least the fruits I remembered adding). I cut them into strips and rolled them. I did keep them in the fridge until we ate them all (which did not take much time). This was a winner and will probably be repeated.
