YOP 14 Round Up
In reviewing the year I am suddenly tired:) The doing a month by month plan worked very well for me so that will be continued in year 15.
A review of what I hoped to accomplish:
Knitting Plans/Goals
6 pairs of socks (Lemon Squeeze, Spooky Rollers, Advent Rollers, Daughter’s Socks, Whimsy 2024, CatcusTwizzler, Sprinkles, Honduras) I actually completed 8 pairs.
1 charity item a month (could also be crochet) (I completed 12 charity items this year)
2 sweaters (NV Jeffrey, My Birthday Cake Pop)
2 shawls (Knitmas in July, Merry Christmas Mystery - well that is more a cowl than a shawl)
4 new patterns in my Ravelry library (Anthology Throw and actually all of the other items I knit except socks were all from my Ravelry library).
Sewing Plans/Goals
a monthly plan to sew certain types of garments or fabric. I did keep up with a monthly plan on which types of garments to sew for quite a few months. Lately I have just been sewing an item a week that catches my fancy. Over the course of the year I have sewn almost 50 different items, clothes, bags, gifts. I sew a lot!
Canning Plans/Goals
can at least one item per month. I did can quite a bit in spurts and if I averaged it out I canned at least 12 different items in the course of the year.
Embroidery/Cross Stitch Plans/Goals
work on some of my long standing WIPS monthly. This was accomplished -I have been faithful in working on the project for an hour an week. I wanted to post a picture of how it looked in July 2024, but it turns out I never took a picture of the piece during that month. That picture will have to be taken this year for next year.
Crochet Plans/Goals
crochet at least 3 garments (In My Crochet Era dress, White Crop Cardigan) well almost. the pieces I crochet are much larger and do take time.
Cricut Plans/Goals
use it to cut our fabric for sewing projects, earrings, 12 card. I have not used the Cricut to cut out fabric, but if I looked back I think I probably have made earrings and 12 cards over the course of they year.
Misc Goals/Plans
completing budgeting/monthly expense reports (I did this for about 3 months and did get a good idea of where I was spending money. This got me back on track for saving. I never did find an easy to use system to track expenses).
workout at least 3 times a week (during the school year). On average I think this was generally accomplished. I tried working out on 2 work days and then another on the weekend.
enter County Fair with various sewing/canning items This years Fair news.
read over 100 books in 2024 (I read 112 books in 2024).
write more snail mail to send to friends. I did not really work on this one. It was great thought just got tied down in the execution. I did write many letters and cards just not on a consistent basis.
Overall I am happy with the goals and progress I completed this year. The YOP group does help keep me focused. It encourages me to maintain my creative life which is very important to me. Next week it will be time to set some new goals and plans.
