You Scream for Ice Cream
Years ago we received an ice cream maker as a wedding gift. We used it quite a bit immediately after the wedding until our clothes became too tight. Now I just take it out occasionally to make a sweet treat.
The inner container must be kept in the freezer so it is cold enough. I have to make the ice cream ingredients the day before anyone actually wants ice cream. Everything must be very cold of course before you start.
We had some extra lemon juice from my last adventure. I added raspberries to the mix and made a delicious Raspberry Lemon Sorbet.
My DH and DD are bothered by too much dairy so I did make a batch of vanilla ice cream next. My DH can eat a small bowl with no issues. THe ice cream is much better (of course) than any you can buy, The mixture is heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract.
Next on the list was pineapple sorbet. I had some leftover fresh pineapple. By the way you cannot use fresh pineapple in ice cream. If you want pineapple ice cream the pineapples have to be canned prior to use. Sorbet is was then because I did not want to can such a small amount.
Sorbet is simply the fruit mixed with sugar water. It turned out delicious with just the right amount of pineapple flavor.
