Saturday Stash Building
One of my friends in the knitting group owns her own yarn dying, selling business Kaleidotoes. Besides being a delightful friend and a champion knitter she invites friends into her dying studio.
I went the other week with another knitting friend. I dyed a skein of fingering weight sock yarn and a sock blank. It was very hard to select colors. There were so many to look at and they all looked stunning. I first dyed the skein and I was drawn to all the pinks. I think it turned out stunning.
I remember I read someone else’s blog and they discussed sock blanks. They were not a big fan and I have to say I agree. My friend ordered some to try them out but does not stock them.
The dye process was also slightly different for each skein. I do not feel I did quite as nice a job on the sock blank as I did on the skein. I thought the colors would work well together but, now I am not so sure.
I guess I will need to wind it up and knit with it to see if I will be surprised. I am sure winding it will be an adventure.
