Quilt Top
When I was cleaning up the sewing studio this summer I found a few fabric book projects that needed to be completed. My DD is way past the age of enjoying cloth books so decided to use them in another way. I had 2 panels of Miss Spider and Friends. This is an older book series by David Kirk.
The first panel I had made into a book as intended. The book was gifted to my pastor’s 1 year old daughter. She loves it and it can get dragged everywhere and then thrown in the washing machine.
I decided to use the second panel to make a small quilt. The first step was locating the matching fabric I had saved for the project. Next was ironing on paper backed fusible interfacing. I then cut out each round shape. There were 14 - drat this is an uneven number for the top.
I solved the issue by ironing on 12 to the front material and using the “extra” 2 on the backing. The backing is a light flannel. The front is cotton quilting.
I zig zagged around each circle I had ironed onto the fabric pieces. You can see some of the pins I forgot to remove. This is already sitting and waiting in the pile of quilt tops to go to the long arm quilter. I might try to finish at least another small quilt top before I arrange a drop off of the makes.
I did have to buy a spool of thread to match the orange circles. You would think with the large thread collection I have I would have had something that matched, but you would be mistaken. I found a very light orange thread that did the matching pretty well.
